Can we re-examine the idea of "turn-around schools?" This high-pressure model for improving CPS seems way too reliant upon standardized test scores. The fact that students don't really LEARN anything from standardized tests should call into question both their value as an assessment of learning and the veracity of the data these test results produce. Besides, closing and "turning around" schools (which might just as easily be called "drop-kicking") might be transforming CPS schools into a not-so-entertaining version of The Apprentice.
